FROM CLOTHED TO NAKED
Possibly a sacrilegious move for Honda purists, but Mark wanted to lose the factory fairing and other bodywork to take the VFR back to its most basic form. You can see how much of the bikes visual idenity the fairings make up in this example photo.
STARTING WITH THE FRONT
Starting at the front and working back, the stock forks were ditched and replaced with a set of Kawasaki ZX10R units, all held together by a set of our own machined yokes. A stripped back bike like this has no time for standard clocks so the top yoke houses a flush mounted Motogadget Motoscope pro display.
NEW GRIPS & MUDGUARD
We also added a pair of in-house made clip on bars which feature a set of incredible copper and brass machined grips, custom made switch button housings. A Fastec mudguard, stainless steel stays and twin headlights mounted on a custom made support finish off the front end.
RADIATOR COVERS
Moving back further, the oil cooler was relocated and custom radiator covers were fabricated to match the side panels and belly pan.
REAR REPLACEMENT
When it came to the rear of the bike, there was only one way forward. Junk it and replace with a one off rear subframe which contains an electrics tray to hide everything away neatly. As well as YSS Rear shocks and a Fastec stainless steel chain guard complete the look.
REWIRE & KEYLESS IGNITION
It made sense, given the new display, to completely re-wire the Honda using a trusty Motogadget M.Unit which incorporates a keyless RF ignition system. As with most of our builds the tiny but incredibly bright Kellerman Atto indicators were fitted front and rear.
ENGINE REFRESH!
The engine had a full freshen up and an equally nice black paint job. This was complemented with a modified exhaust system, finished in black Cerakote naturally, with a GP style silencer letting the gases exit freely. You really do need to hear this bike in full song!
